What Type of Computer Components Does Most Computers Feature?
Did you purchase a basic computer when you bought you brand new one? If so you can always buy computer components that can help to upgrade it or if you bought a computer from online and when you got it was missing some of the main computer components you can always get more.
There are four essentials that a computer system requires: a Central Processing Unit (CPU), a motherboard, a hard drive, and even memory. All these computer components are all placed in a metal case, which has a place in the back where your keyboard, monitor, and mouse can be attached. This is what makes up the basic computer.
You might be thinking to yourself what is the computer components the motherboard? That is your number one computer component to every computer. It helps to attach all the Central Processing Unit, hard drive, memory, keyboard, mouse, monitor, and any additional features such as scanners, speakers, and even your printer. The motherboard is compared to the nervous system or even the skeleton of your human body. Motherboards help to support the internal components while the information passes through the computer parts.
The computer cannot run with just the motherboard it has to have a brain, which is the Central Processing Unit. Almost all your mathematical functions are done with the CPU. Some of the other computer components have their own processors but all the results will have to pass through the Central Processing Unit. The CPU usually measures the speed of your computer. Central Processing Units is mostly the single part of the performance feature. Your modern day CPUs are generally between 2.0 to 3.0 GHz. This is referred to the measurement of how many calculations a processor can produce in a second. If you have a computer that has a higher number, the quicker and better your computer will be. A Central Processing Unit may start to overheat that is what the fan is for in all computers. When your computer cannot cool off that is one of the most effective features that can affect how long your computer can last.
Some other computer components that are very import are the computer memory also known as the RAM (Random Access Memory). RAM helps to store all the important information that your computer needs to operate. By being random access your computer can get data in uncertain order, not exactly how it is stored. Most computers generally have 512 to 1024 megabytes or better of memory. The common type of RAM is a DDR-SDRAM, which is a double data rate synchronous dynamic random access memory. DDR can help to access the data faster then the RAM. DDR2 is now out on the market and it is even faster then the standard.
If your computer did not contain the wonderful computer component called a hard drive then every time you turn the computer off it would delete all your useful information. Thanks to the hard drive you do not have to worry, it keeps the entire computer's operating information.
Now all that is left that your computer needs is the parts that are very helpful such as the mouse, monitor, and keyboard. Additional computer components that are allows useful is the scanner or printers. So whenever you go to purchase your next computer you will now know all the important computer components and how they work.
